Meet newest member of the team, Mary Alice Mullin

Meet newest member of the team, Mary Alice Mullin

My decision to sell real estate six years ago after a sales career at the Des Moines Register was driven by a desire for more flexibility and an uncapped earning potential.  My dream is to vacation in the Bahamas over the holidays and be able to bring our entire family along. My family is anxiously waiting for that trip to the Bahamas and it will come! Meanwhile my family supports my quest to be a great Realtor® focusing on integrity, honesty and reputation.

My two little grandsons, Matthew and Jack, are grandma’s best helpers!

My husband, Mike and I live in the “North of Grand” neighborhood and love it! We have raised our family in Des Moines and our hearts are planted firmly here where we love the people, our friends and the Midwest lifestyle. We love the character and charm that Des Moines has to offer.

These last couple of years have been a challenge; with all of the changes in our economy and changes in who and how we do our business. More now than ever, I have an even greater desire for excellence and integrity in my personal life and my business, and of course lots more laughter…

In the last six years, I’ve worked with clients on transactions including everything from new construction; Neighborhood Finance LLC rehabbed homes, Community Housing Development and old beauties in Sherman Hill and Highland Park. I enjoy the variety of working with different types of housing in all parts of the metro area. Mostly I enjoy meeting fun people and being invited into their lives to be a part of a such a milestone event like buying a home.

Own a Piece of History, a former Governor’s mansion, for less than $40,000

Filed under: Burnett Realty — admin @ Mar 22nd, 2011

Rob Langloss is a Realtor at Burnett Realty who has a love for historic homes. Rob is looking for a buyer who is willing to put in a little blood, sweat and tears to make this former Governor’s mansion what it was over a century ago. Possibly someone like himself, who appreciates the character of old homes and loves the River Bend Historic District as much as he does.

This home was originally the home of Iowa’s fifteenth Governor, Frank Jackson. He and his family lived here prior to and during his term as governor. Since Iowa did not provide a home for governors at the time, the house was in effect the Iowa Governor’s Mansion from 1895 to 1897. The Jackson’s lived here until the early 1920’s when they moved to California.

Over a century later, this property is in need of some tender loving care and is available for sale at a price of $39,900. Rob states, “The home does need extensive restoration, but could be quite the showplace when finished. The home features an ornate staircase, 3 rooms with beamed ceilings, 3 fireplaces (non-working), some original woodwork, hardwood floors, and the potential for 3rd floor living space. There may be grant money available for restoration since this home is in a historic district. An NFC down-sizing grant may also be available.”

Rob knows the perfect buyer for this home will be someone who understands the needs and costs involved in this extensive restoration, yet has a love for places like this and keeping a piece of history alive. Contact your Burnett Realtor about this listing or view the full listing by clicking here.
