EyeTV Hybrid

We’ve been fans of Elgato ever since they came out with the original EyeTV — and their products keep getting better. The latest is the EyeTV Hybrid ($150), a simple, USB 2.0 dongle-style device that allows you to watch and record analog, digital, and (with the right Mac) HDTV. It has a standard coaxial connector, as well as a break-out cable for connecting composite, S-Video, and audio from other sources such as cable set-top boxes. Add in Elgato’s excellent EyeTV 2 recording software, and you have one of the slickest, most affordable video solutions on the market.

uncrate.com posted a review of Elgato’s EyeTv dongle.

If I only had a ton of money. I would buy a new dual centrino mac tower and make an entertainment center out of it. I can’t wait till Apple decides to jump on the media center bandwagon. I am sure that apple is playing their usually market strategy where the other companies make products like (like MS’s Zune to be released next month. And Dell’s new TiVo like box.) And when the other guys have gotten big and everyone buys one cause of the commercials which they released 2 months early full of bugs, Apple will step in and say “ahhh. . . we have the perfect solution to your problems.”
